Something I've noticed in the continued assault on our liberties is claims that the pollutants we spill into our atmosphere is the primary cause of problems with our climate. The term 'climate change' is such a vague, meaningless term for describing these problems, and I'm not advocating polluting our atmosphere, but instead support the opposite, but we need to understand what pollutants actually are. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is not a pollutant, but a necessary, vital component of our atmosphere and increased levels of CO2 provide plants with the the fuel they need to absorb energy from the sun. That energy is then used to generate nutrients that the plant first uses for itself, then stores in food that is used by the animal kingdom for survival.
A good example of a pollutant in the atmosphere is Carbon Monoxide (CO), which is produced by every internal combustion engine, although we have been making improvements to reduce that amount. CO can't be used by anything and actually leeches oxygen, forming COO molecules (which are not CO2 molecules, despite seeming to be the same). Unlike CO2, COO cannot be absorbed by plants and utilized because the molecules are different in the way they bond. CO2 uses a strong carbon bond for all three molecules while COO only has a strong carbon bond between the Carbon atom and one of the Oxygen atoms, with the other oxygen atom clinging to the other two, but not bonded with them. That is the problem we should focus on fixing and not the excess production of CO2, which is no where near 1% of toxic levels.
Toxic CO2 is about 7-10% of atmosphere (current levels are about 400 ppm, or roughly 0.04% of atmosphere, or roughly half of 1% toxic). High, but not even remotely toxic CO2 levels heavily contributes to plant growth, in turn resulting in better food production. The biggest problems we are causing with regards to the climate are deforestation related, not technology related, and we would be well advised to change our ways in that respect. After all, some of the greatest archeological discoveries of all time have been found in places where the jungle has reclaimed the ruins. By destroying forests, we are only leading ourselves into an inevitable civilization death spiral that will leave what we have produced in ruins that will quickly be swallowed up by plants.
I hope to provide contributors with my writings in my science fiction/fantasy polyverse. I intend to post the opening scene of my first novella, the Golden Harp and the Beanstalk soon, then make other material available as my efforts progress.
I also intend to present my thoughts on a variety of subjects including politics, religion, and society from time to time, but my focus will be on my writings.
I am hoping to find time to make posting on locals a regular thing again, but I am unsure of how to arrange my schedule for this due to a number of things that are happening in my life right now. Among these, my father is literally on his deathbed, and may pass at any time, I am doing my best to preserve all of the music my father wrote for posterity, and I'm trying to keep myself up with my own writing. My father's declining health has greatly contributed to keeping me from posting over the past two years. If I am again delinquent in posting, understand that it is not because I don't care, it's just because I haven't figured out how to better organize my time.
A post on quora.com from a person in despair prompted me to write the following post. I should point out that this person expressed fear that he or she had committed the unpardonable sin, and there were other answers to his post that I felt were inadequate for assuring him about the love of God. Here is my response:
Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is a very difficult concept that is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed, in great part becuase Satan, the father of all lies, wants it to remain unknown and drive people into despair. Despite what many others who have answered this question have postulated about the nature of this sin, it is not, and has never been, attributing Christ’s healing power to Satan, which, while sinful, can be forgiven. The Apostle Paul, who once persecuted the disciples of Christ as agents of Satan, believing they used that power to perform miracles, repented of this sin and became one of Christ’s most loyal followers. He did commit a form of blasphemy, that of ...
