I responded to an answer on Quora to the question of if anyone on the left would admit they were wrong about Kyle Rittenhouse. I am concerned that the person who posted the answer might flag me and delete my comment so I'd like to post my response here to make sure it remains on the internet. The sections in quotes are the name of the original poster and text copied from the original answer, while my comments are not.
"Bruce Wilde"
"A child, playing soldier, killed people in the streets of Kenosha, WI. Nobody won,"
Where is the evidence that he was playing soldier? In an interview held shortly before he killed anyone, he stated that he went to perform first aid if needed and brought the gun only because he worried about being attacked. If anything he was “playing medic,” not soldier.
"Are there an on the RIGHT who will admit that Kyle did not live in Kenosha?"
Every comment from those on the “right” that I've seen accept that he didn't live in Kenosha, but many on the “left” have insisted, without evidence, that he had no connection to Kenosha, despite him having family there and a job there. Also, Antioch, Illinois, where he did live at the time, is very close the Kenosha, Wisconsin, about 20 miles, so he was clearly not in a place that he had no business being.
"Are there an on the RIGHT who will admit that Kyle did not have the license to carry the weapon of war he had in his possession in Kenosha?"
Irrelevant, as there is no such thing as an open carry permit in Wisconsin and despite the overly confusing law with regards to minors carrying weapons in Wisconsin, he was well within the law to carry the weapon. Also, an AR15 is not a weapon of war by any stretch of the imagination. It is a semiautomatic gun, which means only that it reloads the chamber on its own after the trigger is pulled. The AR15 does not shoot multiple rounds with a single trigger pull, so it is therefore not automatic weapon. A good example of a weapon of war is the P90, the weapons used in the show Stargate SG-1, being designed to fire multiple rounds with a single trigger pull.
"Are there an on the RIGHT who will admit that Kyle was not of the legal age to carry the weapon of war he had in the city he did not live in?"
As stated above, although convoluted, Wisconsin law permits 17-year-olds to carry rifles if they are not short barreled, which the stock AR15 is not.
"Are there an on the RIGHT who will admit that Kyle was not personally invited to “protect’ anything in the city he did not live in and was not licensed to carry the weapon of war, of which he was not of a legal age to carry in Kenosha?"
Evidence given by several witnesses for the prosecution, not the defense, stated that they, Rittenhouse included had been personally invited to defend the locations they were at, and also stated that Rittenhouse had attended with the stated purpose of offering aid to the injured. I have refuted the licence and weapon of war arguments already so I will not repeat myself.
"Are there any on the RIGHT who will admit, prior to the night of August 25, 2020, Kyle Rittenhouse stated in video evidence NOT ADMITTED into the trial, that he would meet earlier with the Proud Boys?"
I have no idea where this allegation was ever made. The only videos of Rittenhouse that were in any way relevant to this trial, but not admitted were of him defending his sister and stating that he wanted to use his AR15 to stop people looting a store. The Proud Boys incident occurred after August 25, 2020, and seems to have been set up by someone who had inserted himself as security for Rittenhouse after he was released on bail. If you have evidence contradicting this, please present it.
I hope to provide contributors with my writings in my science fiction/fantasy polyverse. I intend to post the opening scene of my first novella, the Golden Harp and the Beanstalk soon, then make other material available as my efforts progress.
I also intend to present my thoughts on a variety of subjects including politics, religion, and society from time to time, but my focus will be on my writings.
I am hoping to find time to make posting on locals a regular thing again, but I am unsure of how to arrange my schedule for this due to a number of things that are happening in my life right now. Among these, my father is literally on his deathbed, and may pass at any time, I am doing my best to preserve all of the music my father wrote for posterity, and I'm trying to keep myself up with my own writing. My father's declining health has greatly contributed to keeping me from posting over the past two years. If I am again delinquent in posting, understand that it is not because I don't care, it's just because I haven't figured out how to better organize my time.
A post on quora.com from a person in despair prompted me to write the following post. I should point out that this person expressed fear that he or she had committed the unpardonable sin, and there were other answers to his post that I felt were inadequate for assuring him about the love of God. Here is my response:
Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is a very difficult concept that is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed, in great part becuase Satan, the father of all lies, wants it to remain unknown and drive people into despair. Despite what many others who have answered this question have postulated about the nature of this sin, it is not, and has never been, attributing Christ’s healing power to Satan, which, while sinful, can be forgiven. The Apostle Paul, who once persecuted the disciples of Christ as agents of Satan, believing they used that power to perform miracles, repented of this sin and became one of Christ’s most loyal followers. He did commit a form of blasphemy, that of ...
